Petuna Aquaculture — Cressy Hatchery, 2nd Chiller Addition
Addition of a second 300 kW air-cooled chiller with twin-head VSD pump set, connecting into the existing chilled water system at the Petuna salmon hatchery

Project story
Following the successful delivery of the original chilled water plant for the new Petuna salmon hatchery at Cressy (QEG job 1432), Petuna engaged QEG to design and install a second 300 kW air-cooled chiller to provide additional cooling capacity and redundancy for the process cooling system. QEG delivered the works on a design-and-construct basis, including engineering, workshop drawings, procurement of a Midea air-cooled chiller and Wilo twin-head VSD pump set, all pipework connections to the existing chilled water system, electrical and BMS integration with the existing plant, rigging and commissioning, plus a 12-month preventative maintenance programme.
Equipment installed
- 1 x 300 kW Midea air-cooled chiller
- 1 x Wilo twin-head condenser water / chilled water pump set with integrated VSDs
- Suction diffusers and Flowtrex valves on the pump suction/discharge
- Anti-vibration springs and chiller plinth
- Connection to existing chilled water pipework and MSSB
- Connection to existing BMS (via IGOC controls)
- Differential pressure sensor (0-100 kPa)
