Spencer Outlet Centre, Air Conditioning Upgrade
Design and construct replacement of complete air conditioning system at Spencer Outlet Centre retail complex

Project story
QEG delivered a full design and construct air conditioning upgrade for Spencer Outlet Centre, a major retail complex adjacent to Southern Cross Station in Melbourne's Docklands. The project involved replacing 30 end-of-life DX air handling units and 20 condensing units with new rooftop packaged air-cooled units (PAC), extending 11 structural roof platforms, lowering supply air ductwork from 12 metres to the habitable zone, and installing fabric duct distribution throughout the centre. All works were carried out while the shopping centre remained fully operational, with tenant-area works performed after hours to minimise disruption.
Equipment installed
- LG rooftop packaged air-cooled units (PAC) x 20
- Fabric duct air distribution system (ACS)
- Building Management System (BMS) with remote access
- Structural steel roof platform extensions x 11
- Roof-mounted supply air ductwork
- Air curtains at food court entry
